eBay Xchange-Point in Luzern
Late last year, I found an eBay sign post wrapped in bubble paper standing in the Luzern Main Station (Luzern Bahnhof). I used to think that it is just some advertisements from eBay but it stood there for weeks.
Now, I finally figure out that it is called Xchange-Point. It is a place for sellers and buyers to meet. I haven't seen this in other countries. Are they only in Switzerland? There are seven here in Switzerland : Bern, Basel, Geneva, Lausanne, Luzern, Winterthur and Zürich.
Well of course, switzerland is small enough for buyers and sellers to meet face to face for the exchange. I am sure you don't want to drive 5 hours to sell something to a stranger if you are in USA.

You have only seen those Xchange points in Switzerland because they test them here.
If the concept is a success, there will be surely Xchange points in other countries.
But if you ask me, I don't know who would really need those points. In fact it's nothing more than a table with an ebay sign on it... so you buyers and sellers can meet as well in a restaurant or wherever.

In Geneva, Lausanne and Bern you can find them at the main train station, so I guess that's where they're located in the other cities as well. I think it's quite an useful idea, and a train station is still an anonymous place to meet...
When I first saw the Xchange Point, I used to think that it is just a place for people to hook up their machine to get on the Internet.
I doubt if it will just become a meeting point for people to gather in the station in the long run, in stead of serving the initial purpose....
Anyway, thx for the postings and welcome to post anything interesting.
